We’re (not) All Mad Here
Coping Skills: For Life, Kink, and Cons
Conventions are intense, emotionally, physically, mentally, and often sexually. Even when we’re flying high during, many of us deal with the bummer of “con drop” after the fun is over.
Life outside of conventions tends not to be real easy either, most of us deal with intense stressors of some kind, normal ones and the special ones that come with being kinky fuckers.
In this class you will learn and have a chance to practice skills and techniques to keep mind, body, and emotions healthy wherever you may find yourself. Participation encouraged (but not required)
Wizarding Sex Ed
(A Harry-Potter-themed icebreaker event.)
Calling all witches, wizards, and Hogwarts alumni of all genders! It’s very important before you attempt to enter the premises of the Geeky Kink Event that you attend this important Ministry-approved orientation seminar on erotic magic.
We’ll be teaching you a specific list of sex-related spells and techniques that should ONLY be practiced on other magical people, as well as orienting you to important Muggle knowledge such as the fact that they have wands, too! (Yes they seem to be of either only one specific color–purple?–or to have come from Japanese wandmaker Hitachi.)
No potions allowed.
Please bring your wands (or a practice wand will be issued to you) and be ready to use it.
Pain Processing 101
Hormones, endorphins, and blood flow – Oh my! In this workshop we will be exploring the basic physiological responses to intense sensations, and how your emotional state effects those responses.
Whether you’re a top or a bottom, this information can be incredibly useful in understanding the human body, mind, and when you use this information to your advantage you will be exceedingly more successful in achieving your goals in a scene. Are you aiming for subspace? Cathartic release? Fear and restlessness? Getting down and nerdy with the basics of how the body processes strong sensations is a great place to start!

Speed Meeting
Soooo many people, so little time!!!! If only there were a way to get to know people quickly and safely.
Well for the low low price of admission, you can have just that!
Participants will be able to meet each other one on one for a short duration. No pressure. Just making friends. Then after a given amount of time, we will switch pairings up until we run out of time or partner pairings.
Warning: This is not speed dating. People who are being creepy will be asked to leave and taken out of the pairing pool.
Kinetic Play with Zany Danger!
The intent for this class is to facilitate participants to rediscover some childlike wonder, glee and play and integrate it with to our more adult awareness and kink. We will experiment with rope, balance, connection, laughter, lust and trust. Some exciting, delightful and thrilling activities we will do are: get dizzy with a partner, be flung around the room, rope madlibs/ twister & create a human whirligig. If you are very lucky (or brave) we will toss you up in the air!
This will be an active class physically and energetically, though no fancy knots will be required (or excluded.) Be willing to meet and explore new people and make new connections.
Bring at least one 30′ length of 6mm rope, your sense of adventure and a willingness to laugh and be silly.
Asexual and Aromantic Spectrums
Come explore various kinds of attraction including sexual, romantic and platonic. We will debunk common myths and learn about identities on the asexual and aromantic spectrum. We will also discuss some different ways of looking at relationships and learn some (possibly new) language for describing such things. Good news: Magic is real!
Bad news: You can’t usually access it in this reality.
Good news: You can, with hypnosis!

Good news: The Ministry of Magic is definitely not real.
Come to this informative little chat, with delightful exhibition of some of the effects of curses upon an appropriately tranced and consenting individual.

Developing your rope risk profile
Rope involves risk. Both the fibers we use and the people we tie with are imperfect. We can’t control everything that happens in a scene. But we can make informed choices about which types of risk we may be more willing, or entirely unwilling, to assume.
Risk profiles are highly individual creatures: what seems reasonable to one person may not make sense for another. Class participants will actively work through a framework identifying the various levels of risk involved with different types of ties and suspensions. The purpose of the class is to encourage participants to develop their individual risk profile, and to consider how that profile can function as a foundation for play and communication.
This class is taught from a bottom’s perspective, but will also be useful for tops interested in thinking through and developing a framework for what types of risk they are comfortable in engaging.
Though focused on rope-related risk, those interested in impact or edge play may also find the framework to be valuable in their kink activities.
Breathless
There’s nothing quite like the exhilaration of having and controlling a person’s ability to breathe, or of giving yours to someone else! In this demonstration based workshop, we’re going to start off by getting nice and nerdy and discuss how the human body reacts to being deprived of oxygen or blood flow. Topics such as safety, minimizing risks, and playing at home vs. parties will be discussed. Then brace yourself for some breathtaking demonstrations with methods, tips, tricks and more!

Hello all you fine and fetishy people!
Have a toy or piece of equipment, or some fabulous kinky clothing or gear that is just sitting there not being used or worn? Well don't throw it away - There is a better way.
Bring it to our fabulous gear swap.
Add it to the pile, and see if anything takes your fancy.
Don't worry if you don't have anything to donate. I'll be putting in a few seed items to get it started.
I've done this at a couple of previous GKE events, But just to stress this is an unofficial event - Jeff and the GKE team know I'm doing it (and put it on sched.com!), but it's off my own back!
Different Ways of “Connecting” with Rope
The term “Connective” rope has been used in various contexts, but often refers to a specific style. At its core, though, rope bondage is an experience involving two or more people. The experience is not always sensual.
In this class, we will go over different ways that I have seen people interact when rope bondage is involved, and there will be short exercises where attendees can try out each way. This is in no way an exhaustive survey of how people do rope bondage, but it will help show the versatility of rope bondage.

Roleplay is a powerful relationship tool because it bonds our imaginations together and creates an incredible sense of shared experience. Queering Harry Potter
When J.K. Rowling announced to the world after the publication of the final book of the Harry Potter series that Dumbledore was gay, was she secretly inviting us all to look for what other “obvious but unspoken” queer characters and relationships were sitting there among the pages?
We will discuss the ample evidence for the queerness of other characters in the series, and tackle such questions as “is Ginny Weasley a beard?”

Well, Akabi is here to help. Through a series of discussions and activities, we will practice and explore how to be ethical.
This class will focus on the concepts of consent, consensual conversations, reading body language, how to respond to rejection and how to say yes.

Boundary Control; How to Say “No”
“No” is a very difficult thing to say, but it is one of the most important ways to keep yourself safe in the scene. Many of us have been raised, and are eager, to please. We fear saying no will disappoint someone and cause us to be disliked. While it’s easy to tell someone to “just say no” many of us have a very difficult time putting that into practice. This class offers perspective, techniques, and practice in ways to say “No”.
Intersections of Gender and Kink
There are a lot of uninformed, and at times, silly questions people want to ask about gender, a *whole* lot. What better way to clear things up than by asking you, the audience, some equally useless questions? This class will cover the basics of gender, sex, and expression while posing tough questions like “Should I bring my flogger to the office?” and “Are you a top or a bottom?”
Hopefully by the end of the class you’ll better understand what might be important to your partners, how gender can fit in your toy box, and how get on to the fun parts without sticking your foot in your mouth.
You’re a Sadist and It’s Okay
Many of us have felt immense guilt when we’ve realized just how much we enjoy hurting people, due to social constructs. Newsflash: enjoying being sadistic is perfectly okay in a safe, ethical, and fully consensual context, and being able to be sadistic doesn’t mean you must be cold or lack empathy. Discuss some of the difficulties you’ve have had when embracing your sadistic tendencies as well as an exploration of why these difficult feelings occur.
Explore misconceptions regarding sadism as well as different types of ethical sadism/sadist archetypes. There will be a “develop your inner sadist” portion where we’ll share deviously delicious tips and tricks on ways to cause hurt without causing harm.
Note: there will be a “section” of this class devoted to female-identified or femme-presenting folks who identify as tops/sadists, as they have their own particular struggles in regards to their sadist identities.

Coming Out: What? Who? Why? Where? How?
Everyone knows that “coming out” regarding anything (being GLBTQ, kinky, non-monogamous, etc.) is difficult and potentially life-changing, but not everyone is aware of the potential consequences of not “coming out.”
Lifestyle sadist/dominant, kink educator, and professional therapist Sara Scalper will use this class to talk about what “coming out” means, the repercussions of not coming out, and the stresses related to coming out, and will additionally offer tips for coming out and techniques for self-care during the coming out process. They will also talk about coming out regarding consent violations, as these occur frequently in our community and folks often face similar stresses when choosing whether or not to reveal what has happened to them as well as similar repercussions when they do not reveal them.
The last portion of the class will function as a discussion, allowing people to share their coming out stories and their own tips and tricks, as well as to ask questions/brainstorm about potential “Coming Out” approaches. Whether you’re so out of the closet that the door’s locked behind you or you’re in the back behind all the coats, come join us as we discuss something that affects the lives of everyone in the kink community.
